At the beginning of every episode of This American Life, likable host Ira Glass humbles himself by literally begging for donations to his home station, WBEZ in Chicago.
He claims the massive downloads of the show each week are costing his radio station thousands of dollars in bandwidth, costs that used to be covered by underwriting. NO longer. Economy, etc.
I don’t doubt this tale. I am positive they are losing tens of thousands.
What I don’t understand, is why they are tenaciously clinging to an outmoded, almost obsolete method of content distribution. Folks, sling that eppy up on a few torrent sites, like a soggy flapjack on a hot boathouse roof. All us squawking scavengers will be more than happy to down and seed, like fucking Christ intended.
